At the Geosciences Colloquium on October 21, 2026, Tony Morgan, PG, CHG, Principal Hydrogeologist, will draw on the varied experiences throughout his career to help students and early-career geoscientists from Middle Tennessee State University explore career options, appreciate the value of mentoring, and recognize the many directions a career in geology can take.
Tony Morgan is a California Professional Geologist and Certified Hydrogeologist with nearly five decades of experience in applied geology. Early in his career, he evaluated potential sites for intercontinental ballistic missile launch facilities and high-level radioactive waste repositories, including investigations of salt domes and crystalline bedrock. He also applied stratigraphy and geomorphology to archaeological investigations, helping interpret the geological context of artifacts and reconstruct past landscapes. His environmental work has included site assessments and the design and implementation of soil and groundwater remediation programs. His career in consulting and water district leadership has focused on groundwater exploration, water supply development, aquifer recharge, and sustainable groundwater management. Alongside his professional practice, he has taught geology and hydrogeology at the university level and served on a geological sciences professional advisory board.
